The Third Annual Powell River Kayak & Canoe Regatta

The Annual Powell River Kayak & Canoe Regatta is a 12 mile race on the scenic, Class 1 Powell River in Claiborne County, Tennessee. In 2016, there were 82 boats entered from five states. In 2017, there will be nine race categories and one open “recreational” category; Entry fees will be $30 per single kayak, racing kayak or single SUP entry and $50 per boat for canoe and double kayak entries.

Camping & Meals: Well Being Retreat Center will offer camping ($20 per tent or RV per night) on their (almost) flat mowed pasture along the river adjacent to the starting line. Luxury Men’s & Women’s bathrooms with showers at the Center’s new Powell River Pavilion will be available a short walk away. Supper ($15) will be served Friday night at Well Being’s Conference Building and a hot breakfast ($10) was available Saturday morning at the Powell River Pavilion near the starting line.
Kayak Rentals: Kayaks (with paddles and life vests) will be available to rent on an advance reservation basis. You will be able to pick up the kayak at the Starting Area and leave it at the Finish Area – no transport required. Contact Carson Williams, owner of Riverside (Kayak) Rentals, at 423-626-9761.
The Powell River Regatta is a function of the Claiborne County Tourism Commission and the Claiborne County Chamber of Commerce. Net proceeds from the Regatta will be retained for use by the Powell River Blueway project, an effort to improve public access onto the 114 miles of the Powell River for paddling and fishing in the beautiful Cumberland Mountains of northeast Tennessee.
